Blog talk by Wiqar Ali Khan (Daily Times)
The week had crusaded to a standstill, and I was having peaceful thoughts and planning out
the rest of my day. In fact just a couple of hours earlier on Saturday
night, I attended a black suit affair at a hotel that turned out to
simply awesome, reminding me of the parties I usually go to in London.
The overall ambience, d'cor, crowd, food and entertainment were of a
pristine standard and I was in awe when it started on time.
I
was picked up from my apartment by a very prompt Adeel Chaudhry . It
was a magestic welcome as we breezed into the venue just when a
French-Lebanese belly dancer from London
was shaking her moves like Shakira and hypnotizing the audience like a
snake charmer. With some of the men captivated, a few elbow digs from
some Babloo rani's were a bit too obvious. The charmer struggled with
her English, which really added more charm to her accent saying just
this, "Pakistan
& its people are loving & know how to party & this must be
portrayed to the west". The guys in unison said, "We love u too" Viva
la dance babyJ
This
was followed by some seriously energetic moves by Adeel himself with "Move your Body". The dude is forever increasing his popularity with
his "Shahid kapoor" moves going for him & what an awesome track
that is! It was good to see Adeel do some other songs like "desi girl"
& end with his newest track "kissay Awaz Don" from bollywood film
Juggad
We had no time to catch our breaths from all that energy when Atif Aslam walked in singing "Adaat" a tune that made him an instant household name. Atif
was dressed like modern Elvis Presley without the "bling-bling" &
his repertoire of moves & singing got the crowd in a major frenzy"
I have to say that its been a long time since I saw Atif Aslam
performing & it was a real treat. I still say we have the best
talent in this country, & we need to promote & export it the
correct way, without packing it with egos.
