Atif's rise as a Pakistani pop singer is
like that of a meteor. Aadat the song that became the introduction of
Atif Aslam is worth listening to time after time. This song became
popular on different musical websites in Pakistan and then it was also
being aired on major Radio channels of Pakistan like FM 100, FM 105
etc.
Once its video was released ARY The Music almost all the
channels in Pakistan picked it up. After this success Atif has never
looked back. He formed the band Jal (which means water in Urdu) and
released his first album Jal Pari on 18th July 2004 by Sound Master and
IC records.
It was declared to be the best selling album of
the year within just 5 months of the release although a controversy
within the band resulted in Atif going solo. Two albums followed i.e
Doorie (December 2006) and Meri Kahani (January 2008) succeeding to
make Atif a household name. His three songs Aaadat, Ehsaas and Yakeen
were included in a Hollywood art movie Man Push Cart.
The film
had its world premiere at the 2005 Venice Film Festival. The film
entered the "official selection" of the 2006 Sundance Film Festival and
won the Fipresci Critic's Award at the London Film Festival. Although
