Atif belts it out
The Pakistani pop star heads to Bangkok for a show at the Centara Grand Convention Centre
Fans of Pakistani pop sensation, Atif Aslam will get to enjoy his debut
full live concert in Bangkok on October 6, with a repertoire packed
with his Bollywood hits.
Known for his refined stage presence, vocal belting techniques and hit
tunes "Tere Bin", "Doorie", "Woh Lamhe", "Tere Liye", "Piya O Re Piya",
"Aadat", "Aaj Bol Do", Aslam broke in the showbiz as member of pop
group, Jal, in the early 2000's, before pursuing a solo career with his
debut album "Jal Pari" in 2004.
His popularity in Pakistan, India and beyond prompted him to release
another two CDs, "Doorie" in 2006 and "Meri Kahani" in 2007.
Aslam's widespread recognition led to collaboration with international
artists on an international project titled "The Dreamer Awakes",
alongside members of American rock band Guns N’ Roses.
"Right now, my entire focus is on this project. I may be singing with
Chris Martin or John Mayer. We're trying to bring a lot of people
together," he said in a recent interview.
His first international concert was at W StarDreamz Entertainment Group
during his tour of USA and Canada with RDB and Annie. He performed at
London's O2 Arena - the first Pakistani to do so - back in April at the
Flex FX Production's Dhamaka Bollywood Concert with Naz Choudhury and
his Bolly Flex team to promote love, peace and unity in India and
Pakistan.
Next month is Bangkok's turn to enjoy the singer's performance.
"I've been wanting to do this show
now for a long time because I’m a personal fan, along with my partners
(Fifth Sting Productions and Indorama Ventures). From what I see,
people who follow Atif are real loyal fans and love him as an artist and
a musician," enthuses Gaurav Sehgal, managing director of Rise
Productions. "Atif is a very unique artist in that his style is a mix of
pop, rock, slow, fast, Sufi, etc. He combines everything and it's his
genuine love for the music that makes everything blend perfectly. Most
of his music has been featured in famous Bollywood movies, and his
career is still peaking after so many years of being in the business.
"And because of his major affiliation with the Bollywood music
industry, the concert would attract anyone between 15 and 50. We've had
to create both seating and standing sections because of this, to make
sure the younger crowd can have fun and dance and the older crowd can
sit and enjoy the show. If you have a real love for music, this is one
concert you will want to experience!"
Three other Thai-Indian bands, Cactus Terrain, Strange Idea and DJ
Xunny Dey will be performing as opening acts, along with DJ Zubair from
Dubai.
