Shattering many hearts to pieces, singing sensation Atif Aslam finally married his long-time sweetheart in an intimate event at the Royal Palm in Lahore on Thursday evening.

Atif, whose love life has been secret for all these years, met wife-to-be Sarah Bharwana at Kirnnaird College about 12 years ago. Sarah was the sports in-charge and coordinated the concerts at the campus.

Atif and Sarah became close friends and got engaged in October 2011.

Radio host Dr Ejaz Waris said that the wedding event was intended to be low-key, with no media invited to cover it. Following the baraat, the valima dinner will be held on March 29.

"The marriage had not taken place earlier because Atif had some business commitments,” said Waris.

"The couple has a strong relationship; Sarah is very simple and Atif is very charismatic.”

In a message posted on his fan page on Facebook, Atif said: "My big day has finally arrived with your prayers. Allah has endowed me with a wonderful life partner. I would request all of you to continue praying for us as you have always being doing in the past for me.”
