Jalpari review by Tahir Khan

Commending about how well Atif Aslam's voice would be saying the obvious. He jumped into the Pakistani music scene ,with his ex duo band ‘JAL’ last year with their debut single 'Aadat' which roared through the Pakistani Pop music scene and has been on the lips of many.Truly a sizzling single. Now the singer is back with his pioneer album titled 'Jal Pari', released recently.Starting with the hit Aadat , it does signify the loads of potential , this Lahore based singer has . With his mesmerizing vocals , catchy music and some good lyrics , that’s what it take for a smash hit.
The album's title song 'Jal Pari' follows which is a good combination of touchy lyrics with an essence of African drumming. The album has a wonderful depth with good songs like my personal favourite Dil Harey , Woh Lumhey,Ehsas and the deep blue version of Aadat . Touching, sincere and straightforward, Dil Harey has the rare quality of growing on with repeated listens. And the singer is not only at Urdu , the albums wraps up with two Punjabi songs ' Gal Sun Ja' with the touch of techno music .It is in this song that I feel Atif's voice to be some bit like Ali Azmat's. And 'Mahi Ve ' which stands head and shoulder with Gal Sun Ja.Mahi Ve is with a mere touch of soothing slow music combine with a relative fast tune as the song progresses .
Although a good album, Atif Aslam can still do a lot with exposure and experience, and even though this is a brilliantly composed and artistically calibrated album with just the right punch , one feels , Atif should have opted for a little more diversity towards the end of the second half of the album. On the other hand, musician on bass guitars and drums have also done a commendable job and the melodies are sure to remain w ith the listener for a long time. A total of 11 songs, they are all well placed on the album and its sometime difficult to choose from a personal favourite. There are distinct undertones for the teen audience , but everyone else who doesn’t fall into that age bracket can enjoy the record just the same because of its ubiquitous theme. In the end I would like to comment that although this album may not produce many hits still 'Jal Pari' is recommended to all music lovers , and we can safely expect more enthralling albums from the lad in the future. Wishing him luck in the process. Keep the good work Atif!.
